Introduction
Boracay is a world famous island that has thousands of local and foreign tourists flocking to its powder soft white sands and revitalizing aqua blue water. Boracay has evolved over the years from being a beach party island, undergoing rehabilitation, to now being one of the go to spots for a serene beach holiday (but still keeping its party island energy alive).

8 Hidden Gems
Chill at the Nabas Cold Springs
Take a side trip from Boracay and make your way back to Caticlan Port to ride to Nabas, Aklan. Discover the magical cold springs that this quiet little town has to offer. Retreat from the crowds and parties at Boracay. There’s nothing better than taking a refreshing dip in one of their many cold springs after a hot day in the sun.
Check out Manyuko Cold Spring where the crisp water flows directly from Aklan’s mountain peaks. If you’re looking for a great place to have a relaxing cold spring picnic, you may want to check out Hurom-Hurom Cold Spring. If you want a bit more of a unique experience, you can also take a chilly dip in the Basang Cave’s cool water. These are just some of the cold springs you can find at Nabas. You can have a whole day adventure just trying to find the many different cold springs around this area.

Relax or Chase Waves at Ilig-Iligan Beach
If you still prefer the beachy Boracay vibes, but want less of the crowds, you might want to add Ilig-Iligan Beach into your itinerary. This beach offers a haven for both those looking to lay in the sand all day and those who are fans of water sports.
Depending on the time that you come here, you may be greeted with some surfable waves and/or enough wind to go parasailing. But this beach can also be a great spot for just paddling around. Take note though that the water may get quite deep so be careful while swimming. But at least, no matter what season, Ilig-Iligan is a great spot for snorkeling.
Trek Mount Luho
Have the complete sea to summit experience by hiking up Boracay’s highest peak: Mount Luho. Mount Luho is around 100 meters above sea level (masl). You have the option to either walk for the trek up the mountain, or you can also rent a mountain bike for your journey.
Take in the 360 view of the beautiful island of Boracay and catch a glimpse of the many beaches on and around it. If you want to add an extra special ambiance for your hike, try going in the early morning or late afternoon to catch a gorgeous sunrise or sunset. If you are a big fan of getting the best of both worlds with mountain and beach experiences, you might want to check out our article about 6 hikes you can do in another beautiful beach in the Philippines: Siargao. Read more about it here!
Fly Around Boracay in a Helicopter
In case the height of Mount Luho isn’t enough for you, you can take a helicopter ride around the island for a full bird’s-eye view experience of Boracay. Experienced and knowledgeable guides will assist you through this unique and unforgettable activity.
Catch all the sights and leave no gem hidden as you look in wonder at Boracay and its surrounding islands while travelling (or flying) in style. The helicopter ride lasts around 10-20 minutes so you’ll have plenty of time to take in the wonders of nature.
Lounge Around Hinugtan Beach
One hour away from Boracay is the quiet and peaceful Hinugtan Beach. When we visited this beach, just getting to it was a journey in itself but it was one that was well worth it. After a little trek through the woods, we were greeted with a secret paradise.
The island vibe reminded Martin of Siargao, and we were both happy to have visited this beach. We couldn’t believe that we hadn’t seen it before. It is really so beautiful here with lots of trees and outdoor hammocks, cottages, and swings. The rustic feel also gives off the nostalgic vibes of Boracay in the 90’s when it was untouched by all the big establishments. Check out our vlog documenting our short stay at this beach and some tips we have for anyone who might want to go here.

Spot the Disappearing Balinghai Beach
Balinghai Beach is literally a hidden gem depending on the season that you visit it in. It is a little beach that disappears during the high tide/full moon. The temporary presence of this beach just adds to its charm. Balinghai Beach is also quite closed off in a cove surrounded by luscious greenery, making it seem like a secret you are lucky enough to discover.
Even when it is submerged underwater though, the water around it offers a great snorkeling and diving spot filled with diverse thriving marine life. Some people also choose to dive here at night to catch the nocturnal marine life that wakes up when the sun goes down.

Cycle to Cujo’s Keyhole
Whether or not you are a cycling enthusiast, you may enjoy this journey to the distinct rock formation that is Cujo’s Keyhole. Feel the wind in your hair and take in the lush nature around you as you bike through Boracay.
The route is moderately challenging but should be doable if you are in average health and often work your body out. The ride is around 30 minutes long and at the end you are rewarded with a natural wonder created through the erosion of the rock by wind and water over time. The keyhole serves as a great “frame” for your photos and for looking at the wonderful water and looming rocks around you as well.

Immerse in the Local Culture at the Motag Living Museum
Learn more about the rich history of the Philippine people through this interactive living museum. This museum can teach you about different crafts practiced by the locals. It also lets you taste some traditional snacks. The museum also helps you understand the heritage of the local community through the traditional folk customs and games.
Everyone working at the museum is incredibly talented, and you are even given the opportunity to take photos with the performers and the beloved local carabao!
